Now you can leave comments on my blog with your twitter sign-in thanks to @disqus
Submitted by mostafa on Sat, 2009-05-16 12:29One additional reason to love Disqus:
Twitter is a fast growing service that millions of people (including all of us here at Disqus) use to easily update and get updates from friends. We recently released the ability to tweet out comments for commenters with a Disqus Profile. This allowed people to share their comments on Twitter and bring in new voices to the conversation (see this in action).
Today, we released a new feature for publishers: Twitter Sign-in.
Fortunately, with such a descriptive name, there’s not much explanation needed. It is what it sounds like: sites are now able to allow people to use their Twitter profiles to leave comments. And yup, these commenters will also be able to tweet out to their updates. No Disqus Profile necessary.
In short, disqus allows your visitors to comment with their Facebook, Twitter or Disqus accounts or if they prefer they can leave anonymous comments or links to their blogs. It also collects reaction from different sites like Friendfeed, reddit, etc..
Visitors can choose to tweet their own comments to involve more people in the conversation.

Reactions to pig culling on twitter
Submitted by mostafa on Thu, 2009-04-30 10:16Here is a link to latest responses on Twitter on the Egyptian decision to kill all the pigs. For sure an unprecedented decision like that is making a buzz around the world. Read what other people are saying. The least description of it is that it is an overreaction.

Jaiku: No more international SMS
Submitted by mostafa on Fri, 2009-03-13 11:43Jaiku announced yesterday that they will support SMS to the US only. Jaiku was down for more than 24 hours because they were converting the software to an open-source version called JaikuEngine.
They will also stop feed-fetching which was a nice feature that created a Facebook like mini-feed (or FriendFeed like) on the users' homepage to follow the activities of your friends on other sites.
In short, Jaiku now is going to be pretty useless.
The announcement on the Jaikido blog says that they switched off the SMS updates because of financial reasons.
Update: Jaiku will no longer be invitation only and registration will be free for anyone.

State security is now following YOU!
Submitted by mostafa on Thu, 2009-03-05 15:41The way Twitter notifies you by email about new followers brought me an idea. What if instead of user X is following you, something more serious was following you. Something evil that usually follows people.
If you think it was a sick joke or that it ended prematurely, I don't care much. The coolest thing is that I created some inane controversy of tweets, blog posts and copy-cats to feed my ego for a day. Very much like the nonsense that Wael Abbas & Sandmonkey feed on for years. (It is nothing personal guys)
Have a nice day!
